Did you know?
ADGA treats Experimental/Recorded Grade goats just the same as purebreds; in fact, many Recorded Grades are ranked among the best dairy goats in the entire country.
What’s the difference? Experimentals (registration numbers begin with “E”) are mixes of two or more known purebred and registered goats. Their lineage is known and their pedigrees are intact; they’re just a mixture of breeds. Recorded Grades (“G”) have some amount of unregistered or unknown ancestry; their established pedigree has some missing members. Many Recorded Grades are actually purebreds, but one or more ancestor was not registered.
Some breeders use these breedings to improve an existing breed; ADGA allows both types of goats (Experimentals and Grades) to enter the regular breed registry after a certain number of purebred generations. Others simply enjoy the “best of all worlds” possibilities of picking from top-quality goats of any breed.
